These magnificent falls, although not the highest in the land are certainly one of the most picturesque sights in Yorkshire. The Aysgarth Falls form part of the highly scenic and often torturous River Ure as it flows over broad limestone boulders on its way to join the River Ouse.
This is truly a scene of great splendour as the milky waters splash their way down between dense tree lined river banks, backed by the pastoral beauty of Wensleydale. Not only is this one of the less rugged dales of Yorkshire and a famous beauty spot, but it is equally famous for its excellent locally made cheese.
Visitors to the falls can enjoy a walk linking the lower, middle and upper falls.
Aysgarth Falls featured in the Kevin Costner film, Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves.
